CROSS-CURRICULAR CONNECTION: BOTANY
We are studying botany for science this year in our early elementary homeschool co-op. Ever since I was a public schoolteacher, one of my joys is weaving together different subject areas.
What we did / what we are doing
We have just begun the chapter on roots, so this week we will be tasting various root vegetables and seasonings whether cooked or raw: carrots, sweet potatoes, beets, potatoes, onions, garlic, ginger, etc. Then we will do an art project involving cutting raw potatoes to make stamps, and using beet juice for ink.
