2016 – Cooking and growing together: Dumfries, Scotland

2016 – Cooking and growing together, Locharbriggs Primary School, Dumfries, Scotland

The staff and pupils at Locharbriggs Primary School, Dumfries have been very busy learning with their school meals staff and wanted to share some of the photographs and comments. During the small group food sessions the Primary 6 children really worked hard when listening and following instructions to prepare three dishes which were then served to the whole school at lunch time. The dishes were fruit salad, vegetable salad and shortbread and also included fresh and local produce which accompanied pasta bolognese and pulled pork pitta main dishes.

All the children from Nursery to Primary 7 have also been very busy outdoors too, sowing seeds to enable them to grow a range of salad and root vegetables in their new school allotments. It was exciting for everyone to make links with growing and the fresh food we eat and are offered at school meals each day.
