HEALTHY EATING PROJECT AND LUNCH CLUB FOR INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL MEALS DAY

Background
As a school, we interested in this project as we would like to promote healthy lifestyles.

What we did / what we are doing
A series of lessons on favourite foods and healthy eating habits was taught to students from many different cultural backgrounds during the weeks leading up to International School Meals Day and during the actual week.

On 6th March 2014, students brought in various foods to an organised lunch club and shared their food stories whilst eating!

Outcome(s)
Students created their own PowerPoint presentations on their favourite foods and shared these with each other to compare food from their own cultures. Students then made healthy eating leaflets and posters to advise people about the importance of a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Next steps
Next, the class will compile a collection of recipes of their favourite healthy meals, which will be included in a class magazine project that we have been working on.
Next year, we would like to expand this to a whole school project to raise awareness of healthy eating across the globe.
