Alongside the mains at Lampton School, there are vegetable sides, thanks to Chefs in Schools. Today it’s a rainbow carrot, kale, tahini and herb salad. Eileen cooks the carrots first, then mixes the sauce through and adds in the kale.

Mellors Catering has a new class, run by their brilliant Executive Development Chef, Michael Stroud. Since September he’s been all over the north of England teaching hundreds of pupils how to make pasta and bread.

2019 – a fresh, tasty school lunch from Japan
An Elementary School in Japan had a lunch of bread with apricot jam, milk, vegetable soup, salad and macaroni and cheese gratin. The food was handmade from scratch – and the food on the yellow tray is a lactose allergy version.
