2022: Exploring school food from the past and the future at a school in London, England

The Cedars Primary School in West London is a a Special Needs School, supporting children and their families with Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges.

The school is a Breakfast Club member with Greggs the Bakers, which offers support not just with a nutrient value but also in educating, enriching and educating the pupils.

On Thursday 10 March children and staff were delighted to participate in International School Meals Day 2022.

The kitchen staff cooked meals from the past and the children had ideas for future school meals. They watched video clips of children from different parts of the world and what was on their dinner menu, Italy and China was popular amongst some of our children.

They interviewed some staff, the common theme was how much food has changed since the 1970s and 1980s!

Some of the past favourites were Artic Roll, Butter Scotch Tart, Chili Con Carne and Roast Dinner and the least was Semolina, Vegetables and Custard.

It was a great fun day.
